Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year!

My name is Cynthia Shepherd and I joined Lyle Public School in Oct. 2015 to teach 7-12 grade science.  I received my Bachelors of Science with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin Superior in Dec. 2003.  During my childhood, my family moved often and this meant new schools every couple of years.  As a result, I don’t really have a hometown, but I graduated from Arcadia High School in Arcadia, WI.

Before becoming a science teacher I’ve had a number of different jobs: lab technician, clinical report writer, ESL teacher in China, circuit board manufacturing, and most recently over-the-road truck driver.  In May 2017 I finished my 7-12 life science teaching license through Winona State University’s Rochester campus.  This past summer I completed my 5-8 middle school science teaching license.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, walking our dog Charlie, working on home renovations, and traveling.  This summer we finished our last big home renovation with a kitchen face-lift.  We also took a road trip to Fairbanks, Alaska and flew to Portland, OR to attend a wedding.

As with previous years, I will use Schoology to post course content, worksheets, links, videos, etc for student use.  Students can access Schoology through any internet connected device with their user name and password.  Students can then access the appropriate science class with the following codes:
    1. 7th Grade Life Science code: VK6WM-WR8JQ
    2. 8th Grade Earth Science code: DFBS8-PWQXC
    3. 9th Grade Physical Science code: 42QHG-HG522
    4. Biology code: ZHKBN-VFDX2
    5. Chemistry code: P6SZN-Q4JRR
    6. Anatomy & Physiology code: DBQ78-MDGK3
I look forward to seeing you all again for a great 2018-2019 school year!
